Cleaning the Community

Social Responsibility Making a Difference

for a better tomorrow

There’s no shortage of green community projects aimed at protecting nature, whether it’s wildlife or wild places. You can clear and maintain hiking trails in parks, count birds for wildlife inventories, plant trees, and so much more. Where there are rivers and canals, areas of common land, pathways, and parks, there are clean-up projects. Waterways in particular seem to be magnets for plastic bags and other trash, but vacant lots and public lands can become dumping grounds, too. Cleaning these areas up has many benefits: You’re protecting animals, fish, birds, and plant life from the risks that the trash brings, and you’re also sending a message to other people that someone cares about this piece of water or land — that it’s not a place to dump their unwanted items.

Erongomed, in collaboration with Rent-a-Drum, decided to select an area in the community. We drove to Kleine Kuppe where we found heaps and heaps of litter, building rubble and non-degradable waste. After many hours, 25 garbage bags, 10 recycle bags and countless "save the planet" conversations, we finally removed most of the unwanted trash.

In 2015, our "Dream-Team" decided to nominate areas to clean in and around Windhoek. Our goal is to challenge other companies to uphold the world-wide reputation as one of the cleanest capital cities on the planet! To start initiatives within the workplace not only promotes team building but also educates the people. We will think twice before littering and think three times before promoting a product/service that does not live up to our standards of clean living.

Let us do this together, this is our future!
